The eurozone is running out of bailout cash, and the German Constitutional Court now holds the fate of Europe in its hands.

The European Financial Stability Facility, the original euro area bailout fund established in the summer of 2010, is down to about €248 billion of lending capacity left after existing bailouts for Greece, Portugal, and Ireland are accounted for.

Spain and Italy – the next two countries expected to be in line for a bailout – could have combined financing needs as large as €703bn over the next two years, according to Citi estimates, dwarfing the existing capacity of the EFSF.

Those huge numbers underscore the need for the additional firepower of the European Stability Mechanism, the new bailout fund expected to replace the EFSF and make available hundreds of billions of euros in additional lending capacity to struggling member states.

However, the ESM has still yet to be ratified, which has many counting chickens before the eggs have hatched, so to speak.

Feds: Too few Americans ‘turn to government for assistance’

By Joel GehrkeAugust 27, 2012 | 2:18 pm

More Americans rely on their families for assistance than the government, so federal officials have undertaken an effort to help people to apply for federal assistance.

“Given that only 15 percent of you turn to government assistance in tough times, we want to make sure you know about benefits that could help you,” USA.gov announced today. The ”government made easy’ website has created a “help for difficult financial times” page for people to learn more about the programs.

The government got that statistic from a poll asking Americans what helps them the most during tough times. Here are the results:
  • Savings 44%
  • Family 21%
  • Credit cards/loans 20%
  • Government assistance 15%

“Government assistance comes in different forms—from unemployment checks and food assistance to credit counseling and medical treatment,” USA.gov reminded readers.

This leg of the financial assistance push has ended. “Although our campaign to highlight Help for Difficult Financial Times has ended, we know that your struggles may continue,” said USA.gov today. “We will keep updating the tools and information we provide to help you get back on your feet.”

Gunman 1, Cops 10, in Empire State “Mass Shooting.” Anti-Gunners Use Incident To Advocate For More Gun Laws.

Jeff Knox blasts spin that would use Empire State shooting to push new laws

“Mass Shooting at Empire State Building,” the headlines blared.

“Two dead and nine wounded in rampage shooting,” we were told.

And these reports about the “mass shooting” almost always included some reference to this “latest mass shooting,” rekindling the debate over gun laws in our country. Even after it became apparent that the “gunman” had probably shot only one person, a former employer who he had threatened a year earlier – and that the rest of the victims were shot by police – the news stories and pundits continued to refer to this “latest mass shooting” and postulating on how politicians would or should respond.

According to New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, after the murderer had shot his victim repeatedly in the face and head, he calmly walked away. Two nearby police officers quickly responded and, when they challenged the suspect, he pointed his gun at them, but, Kelly said, he did not fire at them.

Witness accounts report that the two officers performed what is known in the shooting world as a “magazine dump,” rapidly emptying their guns in the general direction of the criminal, killing him and wounding all or most of the nine other victims. Thankfully, none of the wounds were thought to be life-threatening.

Even hours after it was clear that all or most of those wounded in the incident were actually shot by police, reporters and commentators continued referring to the “mass shooting” and equating the New York shooting with the recent tragedy in Aurora, Co., and the assault at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. They frequently decried the nation’s lax gun laws as the obvious culprit, generating lively and inane debate in the comments sections of online news sources.

Opponents of gun rights spouted nonsense about the National Rifle Association and “gun nuts” wanting everyone to carry a gun, and how much worse the tragedy would have been if citizens had all started blasting away (like the police did). In response, misguided supporters of gun rights repeated idiotic claims about armed citizens putting an end to these kinds of atrocities.

First, this was not a “mass shooting.” This was a cold-blooded, pre-meditated murder. The only “mass shooting” associated with this crime was perpetrated by New York’s finest.

Second, no gun-control law ever devised would have been likely to prevent this murder. The murderer used a gun he had legally purchased and had owned for over 20 years. If he had not had the gun, he might just as well have used a knife or a car or a pop bottle full of gasoline and a Bic lighter.

Third, neither the NRA nor any other firearms organization has ever advocated for all citizens to carry guns at all times. Gun-rights proponents support individual liberty and the right of the individual to decide whether to own or carry firearms. There is a contingent that believes there is a civic duty for responsible citizens to be prepared to serve in the militia if called upon to do so, by having access to, and reasonable skill with, arms. That’s a far cry from advocating that everyone carry a gun.

Fourth, responsible gun owners do not assume that they or any other armed citizen would be able to defeat any threat that presented itself, just because they are carrying a gun. They understand that crisis situations are unpredictable and that a gun is not always the best answer.

The armed citizen that helped to subdue the murderer in the Tucson shooting where Rep. Gabby Giffords was wounded is a great example. He responded to the gunfire by moving toward the shooting and being prepared to draw his gun, but wisely kept it holstered. He left it holstered even when he saw a man in the crowd holding a gun, and instead physically subdued the man. When he realized that the man with the gun was a “good guy” who had wrested the gun from the murderer, he assisted in physically restraining the killer.

As I reported at the time, in all of the “what if” scenarios bandied about by both sides of the firearms debate, this comes closest to answering the questions posed. The “untrained” gun carrier didn’t shoot the good guy or any innocent bystanders. He didn’t wave his gun around and get shot by a cop, and had the murderer not been thwarted in his attempt to reload, the armed citizen would have been in an excellent position to have stopped the attack before many more lives were lost.

Finally, there are some 60 to 80 million gun owners in the United States who own close to 300 million guns, and approximately 0.01% of those guns is used to kill someone in a given year – with over half of those being suicides and a good many of the rest being justified shootings by police or people defending themselves. The vast majority of the rest are gang-bangers and drug dealers killing each other.

Baltimore police report that over 90 percent of murderers arrested and 80 percent of murder victims in that city in 2011 had criminal records. The FBI says guns are used in crime a half million times a year, but Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck reports that guns are used defensively over 2.5 million times each year – usually without a shot being fired.

Also, of those 300 million guns, almost a quarter of them are semi-automatics capable of accepting magazines with 10 or more rounds. These types of guns have been common for over 100 years, and the only difference between those made 100 years ago and those popular today are that the newer ones are a little lighter, usually significantly less powerful and scarier (cooler) looking. A magazine – “high capacity” or otherwise – is little more than a box with a spring in it. It is not difficult or complicated to make or modify one.

The point is that there are lots and lots of guns out there. They are never going to go away, and relatively few of them are ever used for evil purposes, while they are 5 times more likely to be used for justified defense. If guns were one tenth the threat to society that the hoplophobes claim, the death toll would be a thousand times greater than it actually is and everyone in the nation would be dead.

The media bias against guns and gun ownership was on blatant display this week, as was the anti-rights crowd’s inclination to dance in the blood of victims – even when the victims’ blood was actually shed by poorly trained police officers. But again, the gun didn’t cause the crime, and no gun law would have prevented it.

Dems draw in Muslims with 'Jumah at the DNC'
“Jumah at the DNC” will take place at the Democrats’ Charlotte, N.C., convention site, beginning Aug. 29 with prayers and an Islamic Regal Banquet. Photo Credit:AP

Starting at the end of this month the Democratic National Convention will open with a focus on Islam; 20,000 Muslims are expected to attend, according to the Bureau of Indigenous Muslim Affairs, the national Muslim American non-profit coordinating the two days of events they claim are non-political.

”Jumah at the DNC” begins August 29 and will start with a Friday afternoon jummah prayer followed by other unnamed programs and events, leading up to the Islamic Regal Banquet. The following day will be an all day Islamic Cultural and Fun Fest which will include discussions on the topics of Islamaphobia, Anti-Shariah, Middle Eastern Crisis, Patriot Act, National Defense Authorization Act and more.

The purpose, according to BIMA, is to attract national and international attention to the plight of American Muslims and to hold political parties accountable for issues that affect them.

Me n’ The Snake…In the Pickup…At 55 mph.

On a lighter note, here’s a recounting of an adventure I had earlier this summer that I thought might be entertaining.

June 26, 2012
Newnan, Georgia

Late this morning Mr. Cecil called.  Mr. Cecil is the old timer shade tree mechanic, literally. He works mostly on lawn equipment, assisted by his very precocious bloodhound puppy who at 14 weeks still has yet to be named, under a big old Georgia pecan tree growing beside his house, on his old homeplace outside Luthersville, a small rural town about 20 miles south of my town of Newnan, Georgia. He wanted to let me know that he had finished replacing a bunch of parts on my aging riding lawnmower and that my vacation from summer lawn care duty was, alas, over. I had to pick up the mower.

After lunch I heaved a sigh and moseyed next door to Mike’s house to borrow his old pickup and trailer for mower transport duty.

Now, you must understand that we live in a community with a minimum lot size of an acre and a half and Mike lives on our shared lake. His property abuts about 75 acres of undeveloped wild woodland/wetland literally teeming with an abundance of southern woodland/wetland critters. His pickup, probably an eighty-something vintage small model Ford, lives tucked into a tight niche in the edge of the woodland/wetland forest on the edge of his property where multitudes of critters live and go about their lives almost totally unmolested by humankind. Heck, they probably live their entire lives without ever SEEING a human being. To put things in perspective, I guess they figure they OWN the damn place. The truck’s exterior is home to I’d say about 32 species of lichens, molds, mosses, mildews, and maybe even a few mushrooms, given the perfect habitat for molds and fungi that exists in its woodsy niche.

The Mossy Snake Truck in its natural habitat

Well, when I arrived to get the truck, I opened the driver’s door and fished around for the keys which Mike keeps in the glove box, since we have no crime in our neighborhood, we are somewhat loose regarding physical security; many of us never lock doors and keep keys to vehicles in more logical than secure places. The keys were, predictably, where they always stay and, after hooking up the trailer, I drove south through Newnan and sleepy little Moreland in the 95 degree summer heat with both windows rolled down for whatever cooling I could wring out of the automotive generated breeze in midday, summertime Georgia. I was wearing shorts, no socks, a pair of Crocs, and a t-shirt, summer uniform hereabouts.

As I accelerated out of Moreland on the two lane asphalt highway leading to Luthersville, I found myself behind a slower (?) Honda with a badly bent right rear wheel which was wobbling wildly and, no doubt shaking the fillings out of the driver’s teeth. I was unable to pass him since the Ford can only be pressed so hard before her engine begins to balk by refusing to make more power as she spits and vibrates in protest with the application of what she deems to be excessive throttle. She will only accelerate after the driver eases up on the throttle, and then only reluctantly. 55 mph is about the maximum velocity one can coax from the old girl when a trailer is attached. I had nudged her up to that limit when I happened to feel something gently rub across my bare right calf. Naturally, I looked down and saw what I, at first, took to be a slender 3′ long black strap waving at me just over the edge of the bench seat. After about a nanosecond my age-deteriorated cerebral function finally calculated that cloth straps are NOT, as a general rule, tapered to a point. After calculating frantically for a second nanosecond my brain screamed at the top of its voice: SNAKE!! IN TRUCK!! WITH YOU!!

Southern Black Racer
(click image to see him – NOT NEARLY as big as I did)

I instantly, and totally, forgot that I was anywhere near, much less driving, a somewhat unstable truck/trailer rig hurtling along the highway at about 55 mph, with the trailer hitched behind and just waiting for me to saw the wheel so it could jack knife the whole ensemble into the woods off the side of the highway. I HAD to stay cool as the proverbial “center seed in a summer Georgia cucumber.” My brain was wildly performing calculations on somewhat the scale of a Cray Supercomputer in order to somehow assure my survival. It DID fairly rapidly determine that the snake was non-poisonous, that’s GOOD; that its head was moving away from me into the passenger floorboard area – GOOD again. My only choice at this point was to get that damn rig stopped with the utmost dispatch and THEN deal with the black snake sharing the truck with me. One of us HAD to go, and I wasn’t of a mind for it to be me.

Now, while I generally LIKE snakes, I prefer a “live and let live” relationship. I NEVER have aspired to get close to, pet, or otherwise touch any snake and I was pretty well convinced he shared these feelings reciprocally. So I attended to first things first….I crammed on the brakes and steered the bucking rig onto the shoulder of the road with tires screaming in protest. Somehow I managed to keep the truck and trailer in line on the longitudinal plane until motion ceased and the snake and I were out of danger from a violent crash at relatively high speed into some rural Georgia swamp.

Next, somehow, despite being strapped firmly in my seat, I managed to dive over to the right side of the cab and wrench open the passenger door to provide as wide an avenue of escape as possible for my three foot long, no-shouldered friend. I even thought I might motivate him to utilize the door opening by sort of trying to herd him with the cardboard box containing the tie-down straps I’d brought to secure the mower for the return trip. No joy, he headed for what HE thought was safety in his slithery little world and made a serpentine break for the back (or front depending on your perspective) side of the instrument panel where he likely figured he could camouflage himself as, say, a bundle of windshield wiper wires, or something.

It was now or never as his head scuttled up behind the glove box in the right front corner of the red interior. I made a desperate dive and, for the first time in my life, wrapped all four of my fingers, thumb, and palm fully and firmly around the poor, terrified snake’s soft, tubular body about a foot from the tail. I simply could not allow him to take refuge in the dashboard wiring and just continue on my journey to Luthersville with a stowaway serpent. IT COULD NOT HAPPEN!!

I pulled with all my might but the squirming little rascal had managed to gain some firm purchase in the rat’s nest of wiring and support structure behind the dash and declined all my offers of freedom, life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, and sexual pleasures to be found in a new neighborhood. The little sucker just wouldn’t let go! So I pursued the only option I could think of…I managed to get hold of him with my other hand and, with two hands pulling as hard as I could, he finally decided, as had I, that either he let go and consign himself to his fate or be rent quite literally in twain with his halves terminally separated; one to rot on the roadside, and the other to rot behind Mikes dashboard. So, under grave protest he finally and very gradually relinquished his grip on the wiring and structure and was flung with all my might as far into the roadside stubble as I was able to launch him. The last time I saw him he was still flailing wildly in an attempt to defend his body from dismemberment (such as a snake can suffer, lacking members in the traditional sense) as I hastily slammed the door on this small drama of my life.

I opted not to stop at the country diner in Luthersville for a cup of coffee as my nerves were quite adequately stimulated, a condition that lasted the rest of the day.

How Did Harry Reid Get Rich?

His career in public service has ended up being remarkably lucrative.

By Betsy Woodruff

Try this thought experiment. Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this person’s current salary — and he’s at the top of his game — is $193,400. You probably wouldn’t expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate.
But, surprise, he does, if he’s our Senate majority leader, whose net worth is between 3 and 10 million dollars, according to OpenSecrets.org. When Harry Reid entered the Nevada legislature in 1982, his net worth was listed as between $1 million and $1.5 million “or more,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. So, since inquiring minds inquire, let’s try to figure out how Reid’s career in public service ended up being so lucrative. He hasn’t released his tax returns, which makes this an imperfect science, but looking at a few of his investments helps to show how he amassed his wealth.
In 2004, the senator made $700,000 off a land deal that was, to say the least, unorthodox. It started in 1998 when he bought a parcel of land with attorney Jay Brown, a close friend whose name has surfaced multiple times in organized-crime investigations and whom one retired FBI agent described as “always a person of interest.” Three years after the purchase, Reid transferred his portion of the property to Patrick Lane LLC, a holding company Brown controlled. But Reid kept putting the property on his financial disclosures, and when the company sold it in 2004, he profited from the deal — a deal on land that he didn’t technically own and that had nearly tripled in value in six years.
When his 2010 challenger Sharron Angle asked him in a debate how he had become so wealthy, he said, “I did a very good job investing.” Did he ever. On December 20, 2005, he invested $50,000 to $100,000 in the Dow Jones U.S. Energy Sector Fund (IYE), which closed that day at $29.15. The companies whose shares it held included ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, and ConocoPhillips. When he made a partial sale of his shares on August 19, 2008, during congressional recess, IYE closed at $41.82. Just a month later, on September 17, Reid was working to bring to the floor a bill that the Joint Committee on Taxation said would cost oil companies — including those in the fund — billions of dollars in taxes and regulatory fees. The bill passed a few days later, and by October 10, IYE’s shares had fallen by 42 percent, to $24.41, for a host of reasons. Savvy investing indeed.
Here’s another example: The Los Angeles Times reported in November 2006 that when Reid became Senate majority leader he committed to making earmark reform a priority, saying he’d work to keep congressmen from using federal dollars for pet projects in their districts. It was a good idea but an odd one for the senator to espouse. He had managed to get $18 million set aside to build a bridge across the Colorado River between Laughlin, Nev., and Bullhead City, Ariz., a project that wasn’t a priority for either state’s transportation agency. His ownership of 160 acres of land nearby that stood to appreciate considerably from the project had nothing to do with the decision, according to one of his aides. The property’s value has varied since then. On his financial-disclosure forms from 2006, it was valued at $250,000 to $500,000. Open Secrets now lists it as his most valuable asset, worth $1 million to $5 million as of 2010.
How Reid acquired that land is interesting, too. He put $10,000 into a pension fund his friend Clair Haycock controlled, to take over the 160-acre parcel at a price far below its assessed value. Six months later, Reid introduced legislation that would help Haycock’s industry, a move many observers said appeared to be a quid pro quo, though Reid and Haycock denied that the legislation was the result of a property deal.
We don’t know how much more money Reid has or how he made all of it. For that, we’d have to see his tax returns.

SOUTH AFRICA WHITE GENOCIDE: The silence is so deafening that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn’t even publicly mention the problems when she was there last week. Instead, she was busy dancing, pledging billions of dollars and praising the ruling government.

Genocide looms for white farmers

South Africa’s black president sings killing songs as thousands massacred

By Alex Newman

(Highlighting added)

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The eyes of the world were on South Africa two decades ago as the apartheid era came to an end and Western governments helped bring the communist-backed African National Congress to power.

Last month, however, when Genocide Watch chief Gregory Stanton declared that white South African farmers were facing a genocidal onslaught and that communist forces were taking over the nation, virtually nobody noticed.

Few outside of South Africa paid attention either when, earlier this year, the president of South Africa began publicly singing songs advocating the murder of whites.

The silence is so deafening that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton didn’t even publicly mention the problems when she was there last week. Instead, she was busy dancing, pledging billions of dollars and praising the ruling government.

“I find that quite disturbing, as if Afrikaner lives do not count for the Obama administration,” Dan Roodt of the Pro-Afrikaans Action Group, PRAAG, told WND.

He says the situation is rapidly deteriorating.

Genocide Watch, a highly respected U.S.-based nonprofit organization led by arguably the world’s foremost expert on genocide, has been sounding the alarm on the genocidal onslaught facing South Africa for a decade. The world media, however, has barely uttered a word about it.

Over those 10 years, thousands of white South African farmers, known as Boers, have been massacred in the most horrific ways imaginable.

Experts say the ongoing slaughter constitutes a clear effort to exterminate the whites or at least drive the remaining ones – now less than 10 percent of the population – out of the country. In other words, South Africa is facing a genocide based on the United Nations’ own definition.

More than 3,000 farm murders have been documented in that time period, representing a significant number considering the number of commercial white farmers is now estimated at less than 40,000.

Tens of thousands of whites have been murdered throughout South Africa, too, according to estimates.

Disemboweled, drowned in boiling water

Many more victims have been savagely tortured, raped, disemboweled, drowned in boiling water or worse. The horrifying evidence is available for the world to see on countless sites throughout the Internet: pictures of brutalized dead women and children – even babies.
“We don’t know exactly who is planning them yet, but what we are calling for is an international investigation that will try and determine who is planning these murders,” Stanton said.

The ANC government downplays the problem, claiming it is mostly just “regular” crime. Experts, however, know that is not true.

“Things of this sort are what I have seen before in other genocides,” Stanton, who also worked against apartheid, said of the murdered white farmers after a fact-finding mission to the “Rainbow Nation” in June.

“This is what has happened in Burundi, it’s what happened in Rwanda,” he continued in a speech to the Transvaal Agricultural Union in Pretoria. “It has happened in many other places in the world.”

The true scope of the problem is almost impossible to determine, because the ruling ANC refuses to properly track the figures.

Regular citizens are now working to compile the statistics and document the savagery themselves.

The government often classifies the brutal farm murders as simple “robberies,” for example. Sometimes the crimes are not even reported.

South African exiles and family members of victims who spoke with WND said reporting the atrocities is often useless or even counter-productive.

In some cases, experts also say, authorities are actually involved in the brutal crimes. Police oftentimes participate in cover-ups, too.

The non-stop wave of grisly, racist murders in the Rainbow Nation – new incidents are reported almost daily now – has led Genocide Watch to conclude that South Africa is close to the final phases of the genocidal onslaught.

When ANC Youth League boss Julius Malema began singing “Kill the Boer,” Genocide Watch moved up South Africa to stage six out of eight on the road to genocide – the preparation and planning. The seventh phase is extermination of the target group. The final stage is denial.

“It became clear to us that the [(ANC) Youth League was this kind of organization – it was planning this kind of genocidal massacre and also the forced displacement of whites from South Africa,” Stanton explained.

When a court declared the racist song “hate speech” for inciting genocide against whites, the self-styled communist president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, began singing it too.

Dehumanization

It is all part of a vicious campaign of dehumanization aimed at whites, according to experts. Demonizing the victims always precedes genocide.

Known as Boers or Afrikaners, the descendants of Northern Europeans, mostly Dutch, arrived in Southern Africa hundreds of years ago, in some cases as far back as the 1600s. Still, racists refer to them as “settlers,” implying they do not belong there.

“Whenever you have that kind of dehumanization,” Stanton explained, “you have the beginning of that downward spiral into genocide.”

The National Socialists (Nazis) did it in Germany, and the Islamists did it in Turkey before exterminating Armenian Christians, he added.

The government, meanwhile, has already launched a campaign to disarm Afrikaner farmers. As Genocide Watch observed in a recent report on South Africa, disarmament of the target group is one of the surest warning signs of impending genocide.

Whites have not been the only victims. Even before apartheid was dismantled, the ANC was notoriously brutal to its opponents, using some of the most barbaric tactics imaginable even against blacks who refused to bow down.

Necklacing, in which a tire filled with gasoline is placed around a victim’s neck and set on fire, for example, became a common form of punishment for dissenters and ANC opponents. Even Nelson Mandela’s wife endorsed the monstrous practice.

Beyond genocide against whites lurks another largely overlooked but related phenomenon: the efforts by communist forces to completely take over South Africa.

It is hardly a secret. The Communist Party of South Africa has always has been a firm ally of the ANC. Both of the last two presidents have been members of the Communist Party.

As in Zimbabwe after Marxist dictator Robert Mugabe seized power, the issue of land distribution is being used to advance the same dangerous agenda in South Africa.

“Whatever system of land tenure is adopted in South Africa, the communists – in the long run – have in mind to take away all private property. That should never be forgotten,” Stanton warned during his recent trip.

The idea, he said, is to crush all potential resistance.

“Every place you go where communists have taken over, they take away private ownership because private ownership gives people the power – the economic power – to oppose their government,” Stanton continued. “Once you have taken that away, there is no basis on which you can have the economic power to oppose the government.”

While the outside world largely refuses to understand or even acknowledge what is really going on, white South Africans are keenly aware of what awaits the nation if the communist schemes are not stopped.

“The ANC regime has publicly stated that it wants to nationalize all land, in effect doing away with private property when it comes to agricultural land,” explained PRAAG’s Roodt.
“The Communist Party has always been the real intellectual home of the ANC, and even government ministers call each other ‘comrade’ in public,” he added.

Land redistribution

Since the end of Apartheid, the ANC government has been working to redistribute land – much of which is still currently owned by the white minority – to blacks and others.

As in neighboring Zimbabwe, once one of the wealthiest nations in Africa, the schemes have mostly resulted in failure. Under Mugabe, who gave the stolen land to his cronies, estimates suggest millions of people have died from starvation. Others fled, ironically, perhaps, to South Africa.

Now, the ANC wants to speed up the land reform process. Some elements within the government are even advocating forced expropriation without any compensation.
The farm murders, analysts say, are the early phases of what may be coming.

“More and more, the ANC regime’s supporters are turning to violence and revolution to achieve their aims of taking control over land and industry,” Roodt explained.

“Over the last few days there has been an increase in attacks on family owned farms with the intent of driving owners off their land,” he continued, echoing a widespread sentiment among South Africans that the situation is quickly spiraling out of control.

“Hit squads target specifically women and elderly farmers as they are seen as soft targets,” he added. The government also disbanded farmer self-defense groups known as “commandos” that formerly protected rural areas.

According to Roodt, South Africa, like every country during a communist takeover, is being deliberately destabilized. Ethnic and racial tensions are being purposefully stirred up as part of the scheme as well, he said.

“The ANC regime has failed completely to create jobs for its mass of supporters,” Roodt told WND. “So it is using the white minority as a scapegoat, blaming them for its own economic failures due to corruption, mismanagement, nationalization, racial preferences and so on.”
Roodt says the “revolution” could drag on, slowly, with a lot of talk but little action. On the other hand, there could be a sudden, radical shift such as what happened in Zimbabwe, where white farmers who refused to be driven off their land were tortured or murdered.

There could even be a Rwanda-type situation in which whites would be targeted for wholesale slaughter, Roodt warned.

Sadists encouraging sadists

“Anything is possible,” he added, saying the ruling government was very similar to an organized criminal enterprise. “What is going on in South Africa today with the rape and killing of children, torture or farmers and racial violence, is tantamount to a sadistic society.

We are ruled by sadists who encourage other sadists to go out to rape and kill.”

No matter how bad it gets, however, Roodt and other South Africans fear that the world will shut its eyes and wash its hands.

“To many people in the West, especially liberals and leftists, I think it is seen as normal for blacks to hate whites and oppress them,” he explained. “Because of their historical guilt associated with colonialism, whites are deemed to deserve punishment, even of the most extreme kind such as torture and mass murder.”

Even in South Africa, the press is largely silent about what is going on. Consider that after Stanton announced his preliminary findings in late June – explosive by any measure – just one newspaper covered it.

Many white South Africans believe that time may be running out. Some want their own country in Southern Africa to preserve the unique Afrikaner culture, language and civilization. Others are currently working with Western governments in an effort to raise awareness and hopefully allow especially vulnerable populations to escape as refugees before the festering tensions explode into a full-blown catastrophe. More than a few, though, have vowed to stay and fight back if and when the time comes.

For now, activists, exiles and human rights leaders told WND they hope Americans will help spread the word about the looming potential calamities facing South Africa. If the ANC gets its way, they say, it will be an unmitigated disaster for whites, blacks – basically everyone except politically connected cronies.

It pays ($20 million worth) to be a friend of Biden

Joe Kirkup found and forwarded this tidbit about dirty dealings and political power financed with our tax dollars.

How does this create U.S. jobs?

Why do we have an Overseas Private Investment Corporation run with “public” funds.  It’s easy to see why the federal goverment is constantly hemoraging money, this is just one of thousands of giveaways connected to by every kind of parasite you can imagine.

Biden’s ‘good friend,’ donor receives $20M federal loan to open foreign luxury car dealership in Ukraine

In late July, John Hynansky — a longtime friend of Vice President Joe Biden, and a major donor to Biden’s campaigns as well as President Barack Obama’s — was awarded a $20 million taxpayer loan to build a foreign-car dealership in Ukraine.

According to a public summary document, the loan, from the federal government’s Overseas Private Investment Corporation, is for “[u]p to $20.0 million,” and is designed to “expand Winner Import Ukraine’s automobile business, [and] construct and operate ‘Winner Autocity,’ which will have two new, state-of-the-art dealership facilities for Porsche and Land Rover/Jaguar automobiles.”

Porsche is a German-made luxury and sports car, and Jaguar Land Rover is a British luxury and sports car company owned by an Indian subsidiary.

Under “U.S. Economic Impact,” the summary document says, “This project will have a positive developmental impact on the host country, Ukraine. The project will generate a significant number of new local jobs. Running a dealership for premium automobile brands requires a highly trained sales force, mechanics, accountants, communications and advertising specialists, IT specialists, service personnel, warehouse managers, and customer relations specialists.”

Along with his family, Hynansky also owns car dealerships in Pennsylvania and Biden’s home state of Delaware.

Since at least 1999, Hynansky and his family have been regular donors to Biden’s campaigns, and, later, Obama’s. John Hynansky has donated $7,690 to a combination of Biden’s Senate campaigns and failed presidential campaign; Michael Hynansky donated $7,690; Alexandra Hynansky donated $7,280; Deanne Hynansky donated $4,645; and Susan Hynansky donated $1,000 — coming to a total family donation of $28,715.

During Obama’s 2008 run for president, John Hynansky gave $30,800 to the Obama Victory Fund; Alexandra Hynansky gave $2,550; and Deanne Hynansky gave $2,000 — totaling $35,350 to that campaign.

Understandably, during a speech during a diplomatic trip to Ukraine in 2009, Biden described John Hynansky as “my very good friend, John Hynansky, a very prominent businessman from Delaware… I had breakfast with him the other day.”

Though the Overseas Private Investment Corporation report says that “the project is not expected to have a negative impact on the U.S.economy or employment,” the revelation that Biden’s “very good friend” and donor, John Hynansky, received a taxpayer loan to open a business selling foreign luxury cars in a foreign country using foreign labor stands in stark contrast to the Obama-Biden 2012 campaign charges that the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan campaign stands for breaks for big business and shipping American jobs overseas.

At the time of publication, the White House had not returned requests for comment.

George McGovern Mugged!

Recruit George McGovern to Speak — at the REPUBLICAN Convention! By Larry Elder

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | Shrewd move in choosing House Budget Committee Chairman Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., as running mate for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Now here’s the next play: Invite George McGovern, the 1972 Democratic presidential candidate, to speak this month in Tampa at the Republican National Convention.

Yes, that old lefty McGovern. You know the expression, “A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged”? Well, McGovern has been mugged.

The most left-wing Democratic presidential candidate this side of Barack Obama, former Sen. McGovern, D-S.D., proposed giving every man, woman and child an annual $1,000 “demogrant.” In his nomination acceptance speech, McGovern made the same case that Obama makes today — capitalism and free markets let us down, and social justice require universal health coverage: “A program to put America back to work demands that work be properly rewarded. That means the end of a system of economic controls in which labor is depressed, but prices and corporate profit run sky-high. It means a system of national health insurance so that a worker can afford decent health care for himself and his family.”

McGovern’s left-wing bona fides are beyond questioning.

Sen. Bobby Kennedy, D-N.Y., himself a presidential candidate in 1968, called McGovern the “only decent man in the Senate.” A decorated World War II bomber pilot, McGovern fiercely opposed the Vietnam War and pushed for a complete and immediate withdrawal of American troops. Name a tax hike, spending bill or new regulation, and very likely McGovern supported it. But after he left the Senate in 1981, something happened that profoundly changed several of his most deeply held views.

McGovern went into business for himself — and went bust.

Following the recommendation of a friend with “a lifetime of hotel- and restaurant-management experience,” McGovern bought a small hotel and restaurant, the Stratford Inn in Connecticut. He poured his savings into the place, investing his seven year’s worth of post-Senate earnings from the lecture circuit.

A contributing factor to the failure, according to McGovern, was the regulations that make it tough to make a profit. In a mea culpa that should chill every lefty on the Hill, McGovern said: “I wish I had known more firsthand about the concerns and problems of American businesspeople while I was a U.S. senator and later a presidential nominee. That knowledge would have made me a better legislator and a more worthy aspirant to the White House. … I learned first of all that over the past 20 years America has become the most litigious society in the world. … The second lesson I learned by owning the Stratford Inn is that legislators and government regulators must more carefully consider the economic and management burdens we have been imposing on U.S. businesses. … Many businesses, especially small independents such as the Stratford Inn, simply can’t pass such costs on to their customers and remain competitive or profitable.”

“I wish I had known more firsthand about the concerns and problems of American businesspeople.” Holy Ayn Rand! Then in the spring of 2008, McGovern wrote an article called, “Freedom Means Responsibility”:

“Many people can’t afford the gold-plated health plans that are the only options available in their states,” wrote McGovern. “Buying health insurance on the Internet and across state lines, where less expensive plans may be available, is prohibited by many state insurance commissions. Despite being able to buy car or home insurance with a mouse click, some state governments require their approved plans for purchase or none at all. It’s as if states dictated that you had to buy a Mercedes or no car at all.”

This is, of course, exactly what Republicans, pre-ObamaCare, offered as one of the ways to increase the affordability of health care insurance — without further government intrusion.

McGovern, in warning about excessive regulation, sounded almost Reaganesque: “Under the guise of protecting us from ourselves, the right and the left are becoming ever more aggressive in regulating behavior. … Since leaving office, I’ve written about public policy from a new perspective: outside looking in. I’ve come to realize that protecting freedom of choice in our everyday lives is essential to maintaining a healthy civil society.

“Why do we think we are helping adult consumers by taking away their options? We don’t take away cars because we don’t like some people speeding. We allow state lotteries despite knowing some people are betting their grocery money. Everyone is exposed to economic risks of some kind. But we don’t operate mindlessly in trying to smooth out every theoretical wrinkle in life.

“The nature of freedom of choice is that some people will misuse their responsibility and hurt themselves in the process. We should do our best to educate them, but without diminishing choice for everyone else.”

McGovern did a lot of damage while in Congress. Here’s a chance for him to help undo some of it. For the sake of the country, McGovern should share his hard-earned wisdom — at the Republican National Convention.

Invite him, Mitt. If he can’t make it, then quote him.

Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Crucifying “Resisters”; Required By Koran; EXTRA BRUTALITY RESERVED FOR CHRISTIANS.

Arab Spring run amok: ‘Brotherhood’ starts crucifixions

Opponents of Egypt’s Muslim president executed ‘naked on trees’

Michael Carl is a veteran journalist with overseas military experience and experience as a political consultant. He also has two Master’s Degrees, is a bi-vocational pastor and lives with his family in the Northeast United States.

The Arab Spring takeover of Egypt by the Muslim Brotherhood has run amok, with reports from several different media agencies that the radical Muslims have begun crucifying opponents of newly installed President Mohammed Morsi.

Middle East media confirm that during a recent rampage, Muslim Brotherhood operatives, “crucified those opposing Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi naked on trees in front of the presidential palace while abusing others.”

Raymond Ibrahim, a fellow with the Middle East Forum and the Investigative Project on Terrorism, said the crucifixions are the product of who the Middle Eastern media call “partisans.”

“Arabic media call them ‘supporters,’ ‘followers,’ and ‘partisans’ of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Ibraham said.

Ibrahim also says the victims can be anyone, including Egyptians and Christians.

“It’s anyone who is resisting the new government,” Ibrahim said. “In this particular case, the people attacked and crucified were secular protesters upset because of Morsi’s hostile campaign against the media, especially of Tawfik Okasha, who was constantly exposing him on his station, until Morsi shut him down.”

Ibrahim said extra brutality is reserved for Christians, but the crucifixions are because of Islamic doctrine, and are required by the Quran. The time and other details about the crucifixions were not readily available.

Center for Security Policy Senior Fellow Clare Lopez cited chapter and verse from the Quran to explain that crucifixions are not simply normal for Islam; they’re demanded.

“Crucifixion is a hadd punishment, stipulated in the Quran, Sura 5:33, and therefore an obligatory part of Shariah,” Lopez said. “It’s been a traditional punishment within Islam since the beginning, even though it’s not exclusively Islamic. The Romans used it too.

“So, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood haven’t the option to not include crucifixion within their legal code. It’s obligatory to comply with Shariah. And yes, it’s for shock value also to be sure,” Lopez said.

Lopez includes a warning for Egypt’s Christians and compares the coming treatment of the Christians to the Jews in Germany.

“The Copts must get out of Egypt as soon as possible – for the many millions who will not be able to get out, I expect things will continue to deteriorate – just as they did for Germany’s and Europe’s Jews from the 1930s onward,” Lopez said.

“The warnings were there long before the ghettos and round-ups and one-way train trips to the concentration camps began in the 1940s,” Lopez said.

Author Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs, an analyst of the Middle East and Islam, fully agrees and also cites the Quran.

“The Christians are in serious trouble because the Quran in Sura 9:29 commands Muslims to wage war against them and subjugate them, and they’re also identified with the hated West and the U.S.,” Geller said.

Geller also turned to Sura 5:33.

Islamic hardliners

“These are Islamic hardliners who do everything by the Quran. The Quran says, ‘Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land,” Geller said.

International Christian Concern’s Middle East analyst Aidan Clay believes there is a relationship between the recent attacks on the regime’s enemies, a recent Sinai military skirmish and Morsi’s moves against the ranking generals.

The “Sinai Skirmish” involved suspected Hamas guerrillas trying to cross into the Gaza from Egypt. The Israeli Defense and intelligence learned of the attempted crossing in advance and stopped the incursion. Sixteen Egyptian border guards were killed in the attempted Rafah border crossing incident.

“It’s hard to believe that President Morsi could have dismissed Field Marshall Mohammed Tantawi without the help of lower-ranking military officers. The military’s sense of prestige, which millions of Egyptians still take great pride in, took a battering following the militant attack in Sinai that killed 16 soldiers,” Clay said.

“The military should have been prepared for the attack. Israel was. And the blame has largely been placed on Tantawi for his negligence and for embarrassing the military establishment,” Clay said.

Lopez agrees that Israel’s preparedness is a slap against the Egyptian army.

“That border skirmish that resulted in deaths of Egyptian border guards was known ahead of time by Israeli intelligence, which warned their Egyptian military counterparts,” Lopez said.

She notes that Israeli intelligence avoided contact with the Muslim Brotherhood in the incident because the attacks were a Hamas plot.

Lopez adds that even after notification, the Egyptian army didn’t act.

“The Egyptian military did nothing, even as Israel expected. Thus the attack was carried out, Israel was totally prepared and responded and the result was Egyptian military deaths,” Lopez said.

Responding to ‘crisis’

She adds that Morsi wasted no time in responding to the “crisis.”

“Morsi jumped on the incident as the perfect reason to purge the top ranks of the Egyptian military, install his own MB-sympathizers in positions across the top, chief of staff and intel chief,” she said. “Some call it an internal coup d’etat – and I agree. It put Morsi in sole control of the legislative branch (there is no parliament right now) and in control of the political power in Egypt. The new defense minister is a Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer. Things are moving very fast.”

Clay said there are mixed feelings among the military top brass in Egypt. He said some of the brass still support Tantawi; some called for change.

“While many senior military officers maintained their support for Tantawi, his reputation took a dive among many younger officers who saw the need for a replacement. It wasn’t just the attack in Sinai that led to this, but the military’s reputation has been on the decline since a few months following the country’s uprising early last year,” Clay said.

“For some, the Sinai attack was the final straw and Morsi may have viewed it as an opportune time to remove Tantawi and other high-ranking officers from key positions,” Clay said.

“Furthermore, Morsi, not the military, took the lead in responding to the Sinai attacks. In doing so, while also forcing Tantawi out of his cabinet, Morsi has set a precedent that it is he who decides who runs the army,” Clay said.

“While the generals will still advise Morsi, he can decide whether or not to listen to them. It’s apparent that Morsi is quickly becoming Egypt’s sole leader which means control of the country will be in the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Clay said.

However, Geller believes Morsi had a second motive for his action.

Reign of terror

“I suspect that Morsi’s action was timed in part to forestall any further military action against the jihadis,” Geller said, adding that the results will make Egypt’s government more monolithic than it already was.

“Morsi is instituting a reign of terror to consolidate his power,” Geller said.

American Enterprise Institute Middle East analyst Michael Rubin agreed: Morsi is after the power.

“Morsi certainly wants absolute control. The Egyptian army have never been saints, but Morsi will broker no checks to his power as the Muslim Brotherhood writes a constitution and imposes its dream of an Islamic state on Egypt,” Rubin said.

Lopez says this all means that Morsi is shedding his “moderate” veneer.

“The point I would make is that Morsi is not bothering to play ‘moderate’ anymore. He’s moving very aggressively to consolidate power for the Muslim Brotherhood,” Lopez said.
She adds that Morsi is now free to act without any concerns for public opinion.

“He doesn’t seem to care who thinks what anymore. He knows he’s got the USG and president in his corner no matter what he does. He doesn’t have to pretend, no need for ‘plausible deniability.’ He also knows he’s got the majority of the Egyptian people behind him,” Lopez said.

Rubin believes, however, that Morsi will still try to play the “moderate” to continue to gain U.S. support.

Playing the moderate?

“Morsi is going to play the moderate and the mediator for the world media, all the while complaining that he can’t take more forceful action against the extremists because the radical fringe won’t allow him to do more,” Rubin said.

“It’s nonsense, of course, but still an explanation that will satisfy American diplomats, safe behind the walls of their compound,” Rubin said.

Lopez adds to Rubin’s explanation, but points to the White House as the main cheerleader for the Morsi and the Brotherhood.

“This is exactly what many of us expected him to do (consolidate power) and I think the White House knew, too, and not only expected but wanted Morsi and the Brotherhood to take over Egypt,” Lopez said.

“As far as I know, the White House invitation for Morsi in September still stands – nor have I heard the slightest hint of criticism from any top U.S. government leadership figure about Morsi’s coup. He knows he’s on solid ground with this administration,” Lopez said.

Is U.S. natgas boom adversely affecting Russia’s state natgas monopoly?

Vladimir Putin has nationalized the Russian natural gas industry, possibly in part due to his chief climatologist’s prediction of a global cooling phase of the natural climate cycle. Now the pesky Americans have ramped up fracking, and with it, US natural gas production is skyrocketing, thereby threatening Russias state-owned gas business.

Will the Russkis resort to economic warefare in an attempt to squelch US production? Stay tuned.

Why Russia Hates the Global Gas Bonanza

Multiple voices out of Russia have been condemning the global shale gas movement — deriding unconventional gas as “unsafe,” “uneconomical,” and “irrelevant.” In other words, Russia is running scared, hoping that irrational lefty-green influences over western governments will subdue Gazprom’s unconventional competition, before Russia loses all of its lucrative, high-priced natural gas contracts . . .

Russia not only stands to lose its ability to extort high gas prices from its customers — it is in danger of losing many of its customers altogether. Since Russia’s government depends upon Gazprom profits to finance many of its “unofficial” expenditures, the crony-ocracy at the highest levels of Russia’s government is extremely concerned.
These thoughts were echoed in a Bloomberg News report as well:
The natural-gas boom reshaping America is rocking Russia, where state producer OAO Gazprom (GAZP) is slow to react and at risk of becoming the world’s biggest loser from the new technology to drill shale rock . . . Russia, with about $13 trillion of gas deposits, has the most at stake in the energy revolution that’s blasting shale from Pennsylvania to China in rocks impossible to drill just a decade ago. While Gazprom remains the gas biggest producer, the export monopoly is set for its toughest market since the Soviet Union’s fall in 1991 after letting rivals like Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) take the lead in a technology that’s eroding its sales.
Shale production allowed the U.S. to overtake Russia as the largest gas-producing nation in 2009 after explorers began employing hydraulic fracturing, a technique using pressurized water with chemicals and sand to open cracks in rock for freeing gas. The subsequent collapse in prices, which touched a 10-year low in New York in April, killed the U.S. as an export market for Shtokman and other liquefied natural gas projects. The U.S. will even become a gas exporter as early as 2015. Gazprom can’t look to Europe for relief. It supplies about 25 percent of gas demand by pipeline, though the market is shrinking as the economic crisis undermines demand. Shipments are down 14 percent this year. Nations dependent on Russian gas, such as Ukraine and Poland, are starting to assess their own shale gas potential.
The Russians are not alone in concerns that we can develop new sources of oil and gas in America. The Middle East oil producers are no doubt worried as well. As with all of Economic Warfare issues, the stakes here are extraordinarily high. What we have just demonstrated is Motive, Means, and Opportunity. We believe in protecting the environment. But, it is also clear that our system is at risk of manipulation by outside parties. As a result, we have to conclude that environmental regulations can be used as Economic Weapons. There is much, much more to this important story.
